What is Biometric Screening?
Our standard on-site biometric screenings include the following measurements:
- Choose Between Fingerstick or Blood Draw for a Cholesterol & Glucose test with readings on Total Cholesterol (TC), HDL Cholesterol, LDL Cholesterol, TC/HDL Ratio, and Triglycerides
- Blood Pressure
- Height/Weight/Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Waist Circumference
With instant results available, on-site screenings provide a convenient way to reach employees. For sites with Wi-Fi, we can use tablets to streamline the collection of biometric data. Plus, as an employer, knowing more about the prevalent health risks in your organization can help you develop wellness strategies and deliver appropriate programming.

Pricing
We offer all-inclusive pricing per participant – so you don’t have to worry about extra hidden fees. Here’s a quick glance at some of what’s included:
ABH Blood Tests
Through a partnership with nationwide laboratories, ABH is able to offer a variety of blood tests on samples as part of a biometric health screening program. Below are some frequently requested tests:
Chem-20
This is a comprehensive metabolic panel that provides an overall picture of the body’s metabolism. Tests include Albumin, Alkaline Phosphates, ALT (SGPT), AST, Bicarbonate (CO2), Total Bilirubin, Calcium, Chloride, Creatinine, Glucose, Potassium, Total Protein, Sodium, and Urea Nitrogen (BUN).
Cancer Antigen 125
Measures the amount of CA-125 protein, possibly an indicator of ovarian cancer cells.
Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
TSH measures thyroid gland function, which is related to multiple metabolic disorders.
Cotinine
Our cotinine test, a metabolite of nicotine, checks for the presence or absence of cotinine in the blood. This is a qualitative test with results reported as a positive or negative.
Homocysteine
Homocysteine accurately describes an individual’s risk of atherosclerosis, or fatty build up in the arteries, when used in conjunction with a full lipid panel.
Hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C)
HbA1C measures average blood glucose over a three-month period as opposed to a standard blood glucose test, which measures it over the past hour and requires fasting. This is a more accurate means of identifying individuals with, or at risk for, Type II diabetes, as well as monitoring effectiveness of treatment and slowing the progression of long-term diabetic complications.
Highly Sensitive C-Reactive Protein (CRP)
CRP is a substance produced in the blood when inflammation is present. Atherosclerosis, or fatty build up in the arteries, causes inflammation. Therefore, testing the level of CRP present in the blood can aid in the detection of heart disease.
Complete Blood Count
This test helps detect anemia, leukemias, bleeding abnormalities, infection, and more.
Additional screenings are also available, including BMI and physical fitness testing. Results from all of our screenings can be used to complete the health assessment questionnaire.

The total picture
Our reporting tool displays the results of employee biometric health screenings at the aggregate level. Off-site screening results from physician visits, home kits, retail and lab visits are also included, offering a complete view of:
- Blood pressure
- Glucose
- Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Cholesterol screening results
Reports can also be built to include aggregate data from additional blood tests and nicotine tests that are completed with the oral swabbing technique.
We can also securely transfer data gather at biometric screenings to third-party administrators, HR consultants, disease management companies, insurance companies, and brokers.
The Employee Experience
ABH provides each participant with an educational handout that includes his or her biometric values. We can also provide information about specific follow-up actions like coaching programs or additional brochures to go along with the results of their biometric health screenings. In addition to these handouts, we also encourage the use of comprehensive health assessment questionnaire to help employees better understand the full picture of their health.
Online reporting allows employees to view their health test results. This is available for an additional fee and gives the individual a scorecard that highlights areas of high risk, such as their results on a glucose or cholesterol screening.
Employee Engagement
Here are a few of our favorite suggestions for companies struggling with employee engagement:
Focus on positive reinforcement. If you notice an employee actively engaging with the wellness program, be sure to verbally acknowledge and support their behavior.
Choose the best incentives for your company. Collaborate with your worksite wellness company to determine what kind of incentives will motivate your staff and fit with your culture. Incentives can include monetary bonuses, merchandise (cups, radios, etc.), discounted health insurance premiums or recognition in the company newsletter.
Make the process easy. Employees don’t want to deal with complicated activities and procedures. We offer a convenient employee wellness portal which houses all of the information they need – results, challenges, incentive tracking, recipes, educational videos and much more.
Use communication and marketing tools. Reach out to your employees through emails, signage
Encourage feedback – and act on it. Consistently evaluate your program for effectiveness. Allow staff to suggest their own employee wellness program ideas. TotalWellness offers flexible, customized solutions that will allow you to tweak the program to your needs.
Engaging your employees in wellness programs in the workplace will result in a happier, more productive, more involved staff.

Health Screenings FAQs & Resources
Below is a list of frequently asked questions from clients just like yourself about health screenings, as well as some other helpful resources.
Can I customize my health screening event and provide various screenings?
Yes, we provide many screening options. You can customize your screening according to your employee group.
Do participants have to fast for the blood screenings?
Fasting for 9 hours or more is recommended, but not required for our finger-stick screenings. Total Cholesterol, HDL, Total Cholesterol/HDL Ratio, and Glucose are accurately evaluated without fasting, but participants must fast to receive their LDL and Triglyceride values. We do require a 12 hour fast for all venipuncture blood-draw tests.
Does ABH offer aggregate reporting on biometric screenings?
Yes, we offer aggregate reporting through an online dashboard, giving you the ability to customize and create your reports.
How far in advance do I need to request an event?
We recommend submitting your request at least 60 days in advance, but we can usually accommodate events with less notice.
Who will be facilitating the screenings?
We send an experienced event coordinator to each event and we facilitate the event with our network of trained medical professionals. Since we are a national company, many of our professionals reside in your area.
I have employees who work second and third shifts; can ABH coordinate screening events during all hours?
We are accustomed to organizing events around the clock to accommodate all employees’ shifts.
What is the minimum number of participants I need to hold a health screening event?
Generally we have a minimum order of 10 screening per event; however, we often lower this minimum for clients. New in 2020 we will be offering individual screenings implementing door to door screening strategies. That means we can screen one patient at a time!
Are participants required to pre-register for health screenings?
No, we do not require employees to pre-register for their screenings. However, to cut down on wait time and to make the event smooth and successful, we highly recommend that participants sign up in advance. Our proprietary tool, ABH Enroll helps the company schedule appointments online.
